Seeking artists for Unity Commons

Picture
Interfaith Works is seeking artists for two separate art installations for Unity Commons, previously referred to as 2828 Martin Way, which is projected to be completed in December 2021. We are so excited for this building to be a home for some of our most vulnerable neighbors.

Unity Commons, is a 5-story, new construction, affordable rental building that includes 65 permanent supportive housing units for people leaving homelessness above a 60-bed enhanced shelter on the ground floor. Low Income Housing Institute (LIHI) is the owner-operator and will contract with Interfaith Works (IW) to provide support services throughout the building.

Interfaith Works seeks artists to recognize and honor all our generous donors in a way that is unique and reminiscent of Interfaith Works as an organization. The installation needs to honor all our donors whether the amount given is $5 or $50,000.

Many organizations, sectors, and individuals have come together to make this monumental effort come to life, and we understand more now than ever how important cohesion and unity are to our collective well- being. Please click the image above for more information and instructions on how to apply.

At Interfaith Works we love hard and we grieve hard. This is the painful reality of the work we do, supporting those at the highest risk of death within a segment of our population that experiences death rates at about 20 years earlier than the general population. This means that about every six months on average, one of our shelter guests passes away.

Interfaith Works seeks artists to commemorate and honor shelter guests who have passed on. This guest memorial installation needs to be unique and thoughtful in honoring past guests as well as creating a way to continue to honor those who pass on in the future. Please click the image above for more information and instructions on how to apply.

Deadline for applications for both art installations is November 5, 2021. Please feel free to share this post and spread the word!
